Psoriasis

ˇ         Generally occurs in adults

ˇ         Genetic usually

ˇ         Silvery, scaly skin, may be rough, red and raised

ˇ         Exacerbated by stress

ˇ         Affects mainly knees, elbows, scalp

Psoriasis manifests as pale pink to red, usually scaly, patches mainly on the knees, elbows and the scalp when it may look like very severe dandruff, also scaly areas on the knuckles and even the fingernails is common. In lighter skinned people it is generally white/pink and in darker skinned people can be very dark. Although one mostly sees dry scaly plaque, in the more moist areas such as under the breasts or the groin it can look very red and raw.

In extremely severe cases psoriasis may cover extensive areas of the body and will be exacerbated by stress. There can be localized or generalized itchiness, but not usually to the extent experienced with eczema.

A variety of treatments have been used over the years, namely coal tar treatments and cortisone. Aqueous cream is sometimes given for 'washing' but it obviously has no therapeutic effect. Sunshine, or U
VA tanning has been known to help improve in a lot of cases.

More recently it has been found that topical Vitamin D3 has h
ad
a positive effect on psoriasis. Topical products containing
anti-inflammatory action should be chosen. RégimA Vitamin
D3 Protecting Body Serum would be a good product of choice
to try for the psoriasis sufferer.

It has been seen clinically that RégimA Ultralite Therapeutic
Massage has had a very positive effect on psoriasis. It has
proven to be therapeutic, but also
very cost effective for the psoriasis
sufferer as it can be used over the
face, scalp and full body.
