Trying to dodge cold and flu germs during the coming season should be declared a winter sport! Some of us are hit hard with the nasties every winter, while others, probably those of you who drink a lot of Rooibos tea, get through winter without as much as a sniffle. This year, we’ve asked Annique Consultant and health guru, Petro Beauvais, to give us her fail-proof, Rooibos recipe for colds and flu.
A healthy immune system is built over time. It is the result of a healthy lifestyle and a healthy digestive system. However, at the change of season most of us need a little bit of extra support. Numerous studies have shown that the polyphenols in Rooibos, also known as antioxidants, help strengthen your immune system, which means that your body is better equipped to fight off any germs. Rooibos also has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties, making it the ideal drink when you’re suffering from winter sniffles.
Try Petro’s cold and flu recipe In addition to your daily dose of Forever Healthy OptiFlora, OptiVite and OptiCalMag, include Forever Healthy OptiBoost from the beginning of May until the end of August. Also drink at least six cups of your favourite Annique Rooibos Herbal tea a day, or mix your favourite Herbal teas and drink the blend.
Day 1: At the first sign of sniffles or scratchy throat take two Forever Healthy OptiBoost capsules as well as two Forever Healthy OptiC capsules. Repeat the latter two hourly and take another two OptiBoost capsules before bedtime. Drink six cups of Green Rooibos with four drops Jamaican ginger and one teaspoon raw honey during the course of the day. A slice of lemon is also a good idea. In addition, drink six cups of lukewarm water. Limit your food intake to the minimum. Day 2: Follow the same routine as day one, but replace Green Rooibos tea with Bladder & Kidney tea. This will help to keep mucous production under control. It also helps the kidneys to detoxify.
Day 3: Maintain the same routine, but drink Colon Cleanse tea during the day. This three-day routine is usually enough to keep any cold under control. Do not eat heavy meals – homemade soup or Lifestyle Shake mixed in yoghurt or Detox tea should be sufficient.
