South Africa Recognised as Best Performing Avon Market in the World
Avon Justine South Africa was recently recognised by Avon CEO, Sheri McCoy as the best performing Avon market across a number of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The company’s General Manager, Mafahle Mareletse, accepted the Award at a prestigious gala dinner in Lisbon, Portugal.
The Award coincides with the company’s 20 year anniversary in South Africa and is marked by the achievement of double digit growth figures over the last couple of years in contrast to the economy’s slowing growth and high unemployment rate. In fact, the country’s unemployment rate presents a unique opportunity for the company to significantly increase its contribution to the economy through the earning opportunity it offers all South Africans over the age of 18. For a nominal fee of R85, one can sign-up to become an independent Avon Representative or Justine Consultant and earn a commission by selling the company’s beauty products.
Support in the form of regular training and exciting selling tools such as the consumer focused brochure and mobile App enable just about anyone to obtain financial independence. The opportunity offers the benefits of entrepreneurship with none of the drawbacks; flexible working hours, ability to work from anywhere, no inventory required, minimal start-up and maintenance cost, no specified education level required and above all, the independent Representative is in control of the success that she can achieve. According to the Direct Selling Association of South Africa, the 1,1 million South Africans (83% of whom are black and 79% of whom are women) that make up the industry shared earnings of over R4.4 billion in the last year reviewed. As the largest direct-selling company in the country, Avon Justine is a significant contributor towards this impressive statistic.
In 2012, an Oxford University study praised the company for its contribution towards eradicating poverty in the country highlighting the sustainable income it helped women across South Africa generate. In 2014 New York based social investment firm, Shared Interest, recognised Avon Justine for the impact it made in empowering women in the region through its direct-selling business model and through its philanthropic programmes.
To date the company has donated over R20 million towards breast cancer education and awareness in South Africa since 2001. In addition the company has raised over R7 million towards organisations focused on significantly reducing gender-based violence in the country.
