The PAB ETQA endeavours to create an integrated approach to the development and provision of appropriate skilled health and skin-care practitioners who will render quality services comparable to world-class standards.
Please note that the NQF is a dynamic structure and due to the changes that take place in this exciting system, information updates regularly. Please contact us or visit our website - providers, learners, industry, the public or anyone interested in our work - to get the latest information and necessary assistance. The following information may not still be valid but is an overall picture.
It is the goal of the PAB ETQA to implement new procedures and activities during our interventions that will result in education and training quality assurance mechanisms needed to realise our mission statement.
Our Primary focus is determined by the scope of coverage registered with SAQA as part of our accreditation. It therefore comprises a list of qualifications that SAQA has accredited this organisation to quality assure.
These are as follows:
1. Health & Skincare therapy diploma National qualification
· SAAHSP
Internationally registered qualifications
· CIBTAC
· ITEC and
· CIDESCO
All of which are registered with SAQA and will make provision to meet the requirements of NQF related competencies.
2. Certificate in holistic therapies (natural therapies) Certificate can be obtained in three different sub domains of subject matter expertise:
o Aromatherapy
o Reflexology
o Massage
These are non-therapeutic and therefore form part of the special elective competencies required towards achieving a Health and Skincare Therapy diploma. This certificate on its own will not allow you to register as practitioner with the Allied Health Council. A certificate will afford you the opportunity to work in a salon environment, spa or Health and Skincare environment.
The PAB ETQA is in a MOU with the Allied Health Professions Council of SA to quality assure the following qualifications on their behalf:
1. Therapeutic Reflexology diploma
2. Therapeutic Massage diploma
3. Therapeutic Aromatherapy diploma
The above three diploma courses are currently being revamped into unit standards based qualifications by the SGB known as SGBIHP (Standards Generating Body for Integrated Health Professions). Students entering these three qualifications will be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. On completion of their studies learners will be registered as practitioners with the above organization. Their practices will be governed by the Allied Health Act of South Africa. |
